Sterna business analytics applications are rapidly assembled (or composed) from Packaged Libraries, a broad set of business schemas, mathematical models, and graphical Business Views that are developed by Sterna Technologies and its partners based on industry reference models (for instance, the SCOR Model for Supply Chain Management) and best practices. The Sterna business analytics platform allows business analysts to easily develop functionality to augment the Packaged Libraries when new functionality is required and to customize the Packaged Libraries as may be necessary, by using the Sterna Analyst Builder.
Sterna BPS Server bypasses the need to build time-consuming, costly and inherently inflexible OLAP cubes, by storing the organization’s data into an in-memorydata-store. Data is read from the organization’s data stores via DataCollectorsand transformed into Sterna Business Matrices– highly compact virtual data stores – utilizing 64-bit hardware. Data may be internal to the organization, residing in any relational databases, data warehouses, and in flat files such as spreadsheets; it may also originate in sources that are external to the organization, such as currency rates and commodity pricing.
Business Matrices are maintained completely separately from the mathematical computations, providing an unprecedented level of flexibility. The computations are defined using an intuitive Business Mathematics syntax, expressing the dependencies between the Business Matrices. The set of dependencies among the Business Matrices and formulae results in a constraint propagation network; any change to a value of one of the Business Matrices is immediately propagated throughout the network, providing the basis for real-time business analytics.
Sterna BPS utilizes patented algorithms to perform millions of complex computations per second on the Dynamic Matrices, to provide an integrated delivery of strategic business intelligence (BI), operational BI, and predictive analytics, in real time, in a single business analytics platform.
Sterna Packaged Libraries are the building blocks for rapidly composing Sterna business analytics applications. Packaged Libraries are composed of predefined Business Matrices and the formulae that define the relationships between the Business Matrices; they also include the graphical user interface components – Business Views – used to present the data to the user. The functionality of the Packaged Libraries is specific to the industry (e.g. Chemicals, Mobile) and the business community within (e.g. Finance, Logistics).See examples of Packaged Libraries.
